VELKOMMEN TIL VERNISSAGE TORSDAG 13. FEBRUAR KL 18!
'When a painting reaches a critical point; I see it as being in harmony and at rest after a long journey, barren and aged with the poetry of travel. It pays homage to water, earth, sky, wind and fire, the elements from which it originated'
Espen Eiborg
What the form demands and the quest for inquiry are essential considerations in the works of Espen Eiborg. The format is that of an imaginary landscape. Recurring subjects are the breaking point of heaven and earth, or subsequently light and dark. The melting point is the poetry and that which builds the composition. It is a language of solids and voids and their relationship to one another.
Espen Eiborg has developed his own style in these works through the use of materials such as tar, oil and wax combined with cement, plaster, pigments and gold leaf. His technique and application involves scraping and pouring; using tools such as brush, knife and cloth. Furthermore, he applies the materials in a way that allow the history of each idea and layer to be visible, allowing the viewer a unique understanding of his work.
The colour palette is often mysterious and shift from combinations of red and gold to ash blue and black.
