An Doan Nguyen

An Doan Nguyen (b. 1978, Phuc Long, Vietnam) has a Bachelor of Fine Art from Wimbledon School of Art in London, and Art History from the University of Bergen, Norway. Nguyen’s work is held by numerous private col- lectors and public buildings in both Norway and abroad.

The Lonicera Caprifolium are a series of close-up studies where the flowers take on a personality of their own. His paintings vary from an impressionistic expression to photorealistic techniques. Light and shadow are carefully thought out and used in a dramatic and underlining way.

Intrinsic to all his paintings are the fragile coexistence between nature and people, where he emphasizes nature`s vulnerability and the importance of a well-functioning ecosystem.
