Tom Erik Andersen
NOTHING IS REAL
15th – 18th of May
OPENING THURSDAY THE 15TH OF MAY. WELCOME!
Rarely do we see an artist who so seamlessly blends humor, gravity, and meaning as Tom Erik Andersen.
With a gentle smile and warm melancholy, he conveys messages that remind us of a world of dreams and imagination we may have left behind. His works possess a friendly depth that invites contemplation.
Andersen has developed a distinctive and recognizable style, with surrealistic motifs expressed through a clean and direct visual language. The titles of his pieces play an important role and can be seen as an integral part of the artwork itself.
At the core of his work lies a central theme: humanity and the life we lead. The scenes he creates may appear melancholic or humorous, yet the symbolism is always clear. His images spark curiosity and make us want to know more.
And that is exactly what the artist hopes for. His works tell a story. He wants viewers to pause, reflect on the motif, perhaps even discover their own story within it—and carry that impression with them.
Tom Erik Andersen has worked as a professional artist for over 20 years. He has exhibited extensively throughout Norway and internationally in cities such as New York, Chicago, Beijing, Stockholm, and Copenhagen.
In recent years, Andersen has completed numerous public art commissions. His works are featured in schools, hospitals, and various public institutions. He is also represented in numerous private corporate collections, as well as by collectors both in Norway and abroad.
In 2012, he was commissioned to create a full-scale decorative project for the Ambassador Hotel in Drammen. He also created a large-scale outdoor installation located in a roundabout on Highway 134 between Drammen and Kongsberg—a 10-ton artwork that has become a local landmark.
His art has been featured in several professional journals, used as book covers, and on CD albums. Over 50 galleries in Norway represent his work. Andersen’s art is even part of the national school curriculum—one of his pieces is included in the textbook Dialogos used in 9th grade.
Tom Erik Andersen is a popular and in-demand artist, both in Norway and internationally, and is considered one of the country’s best-selling contemporary artists.
