For several hundred years, the United States has been the object of the dream and the hope that you can create your own happiness with your own effort and cleverness. From the first pioneers to the immigration and education, the United States has been a destination for youth and families seeking knowledge, wealth and fame. But above all, freedom.

Perhaps the people who most strongly manifests the American dream is the cowgirl and the cowboy. With their horse on the endless prairie, they embodied the desire for personal freedom, heroism, self-determination and happiness.

This exhibition examines this American hero ─ who, through countless films, books and other popular culture, has never lost their power as a symbol of the American dream.
In the exhibition TALES FROM THE WEST, Benedicte Aubert Ringnes, Benjamin Bergman, Edvarda A. Braanaas, Espen Eiborg, Glenn M. Skibsted, HaMa Woods, Magnus Petterson and Martin Whatson show their interpretations of stories, landscapes and people from the time when the cowboy or cowgirl was the mythical symbol of American power, adventure and dream.
